Agsafe

Agsafe Guardian

For more than ten years, the Agsafe Accreditation program has delivered a national standard that satisfies regulatory compliance for five government departments in each state for the storage, handling, transport and recommendation of agricultural chemicals.

Suppliers and distributors accredited against the Agsafe Code of Practice can be confident that they meet regulatory guidelines. The Guardian program is a self-regulatory scheme whose Code of Conduct has received ACCC authorisation allowing Agsafe to impose trading sanctions on members that do not meet regulatory compliance standards. This allows industry to position itself for a future in which there is no longer a commercial disadvantage inherent in meeting safety obligations.

Industry continues to evolve alongside an increasingly urbanised domestic marketplace that demands improved standards and increased regulatory involvement. Self-regulation has been extremely effective in ensuring compliance in an industry with the potential to create serious risk to the environment and occupational health and safety.

On an annual basis, Agsafe Guardian provides consultations to over 800 retail premises and re-accredits over 2000 people involved from point of manufacture through to point of sale.

Recent developments have seen Agsafe working alongside the Fertiliser Industry Federation of Australia in introducing the FERTCARE®, environmental training package and developing a premises assessment program.
